Scarborough Walmart employee tests positive for coronavirus

Walmart Canada has confirmed an employee at their Scarborough location recently tested positive for coronavirus.

The employee last worked at the 1900 Eglinton Avenue East location on August 18.

“We are in contact with the associate and are keeping them in our thoughts. Everyone at Walmart wishes them a speedy recovery,” Felicia Fefer, manager of corporate affairs, told Daily Hive via email.

Other store associates who were in close contact with the employee are currently self-isolating at home, she added.

The store has also undergone a deep cleaning and is in contact with public health authorities.

Fefer also outlined some of Walmart’s routine coronavirus precautions which include checking each employee’s temperature at the start of their shift, limiting the number of customers allowed in store, cleaning work areas and shopping carts, using one-way markings, and bringing in plexiglass shields between workers and customers.
