This easy, breezy spot by the Food Dudes encourages connection with the people around you. That’s why the menu mostly consists of share plates, and the tables come equipped with storage boxes where diners can hide their phones away. The ambiance is sleek and minimal… even zen. The concept of no-phones definitely fits the vibe.

Dumbo Snack Bar

They won’t force you, but Dumbo offers a charging station that sneakily encourages you to not be on your phone all night. While your device is behind the bar, getting its juices re-filled, you’ll be in front of the bar… also getting re-fills. So not only are you undistracted by your screen, but you can also be sure your phone won’t die in the Lyft home.

Coffee, Oysters, Champagne

Coffee, Oysters, Champagne

Use your phone all you want in the front-bar of this spot, but check it if you want to head beyond the champagne cellar. What happens behind the scenes is yours to discover… but not to share on social media. You’ve got to let everyone else find out these secrets for themselves.

Early Bird

It can be frustrating to walk into a cafe with a friend, looking forward to catching up, and be met by a sea of laptop-focused workers who are probably going to hold onto their table for hours. To save everyone from a heated argument, Early Bird caters to all. Some tables are laptop-friendly, while others are designated screen-free from 9 am to 4 pm.

And an honourable mention…

Dufferin Mall

Not a restaurant. And probably not somewhere you’d imagine finding your ~zen~ and ~presence~, but sometimes life surprises you. Dufferin Mall offers secure charging stations along the shopping centre’s main strip, where you can leave your device while you get some errands done. It’s strangely liberating to be sans-social media or texting distractions in such a dynamic environment.

And there are plenty of spots to grab a coffee, a bite, or a bag of onions.

Address: 900 Dufferin Street
