Peel Regional Police are reporting that a two-car collision sent a vehicle ramming into a patio in Mississauga, injuring two people, one of whom was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

According to a tweet by police on Thursday, June 27, they received a call at 3:51 pm about a vehicle that had driven into a patio on Lakeshore Road East and Stavebank Road.

Police say that the two-vehicle collision caused one of the cars to be struck and pushed into the patio area of an establishment.

In a later tweet, police reported that the crash sent one adult male to a trauma centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries, as well as an adult female to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Peel Regional Police’s Major Collisions Bureau attended the scene.

The crash caused multiple road disruptions and delays in the area, and police reported that southbound Stavebank Road was closed from High Street to Lakeshore Road, and westbound on Lakeshore from Elizabeth Street was down to one lane.

It is unclear if those injured were sitting on the patio at the time of the crash.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
