Parkdale's phone-free snack bar is closing after just over a year
A little over a year ago, “a silly little bar” opened up in Parkdale.
Its name? Dumbo.
TheĀ late-night destination for cocktails, beers, and small plates encouraged checking your phone at the door, offering a space to truly unplug. Cozy and inviting, the spot became a neighbourhood hub.
And it’s just announced that it’ll be closing this weekend.

A post shared on Instagram reads that Dumbo will be the venue for “a party to end all parties May 24 and 25,” and after that, the spot will be closed for good.
“Dumbo Snack Bar has exceeded my expectations in every possible way,” wrote Nick Peach, owner of the space.

“The response from our guests, our reviews, best-of lists, and the fellow business owners and community in Parkdale made opening the doors each day a dream come true,” the caption reads.
It goes on to explain that the reason for the closure is because the majority of the spot’s original team won’t be around this summer.
Instead of transitioning ownership and staff, they’ve opted to “go out with a bang.”
