The Government of Ontario is reporting 159 more COVID-19 cases in schools in Tuesday’s update, totalling 2,865 reported cases since September.
According to the provincial government, 103 of the new cases are student-related, 23 are staff-related, and 33 are unidentified,
There has been a reported 936 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 1,929 cases reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.
Out of the 2,865 cases recorded since September, about 57% of cases have been reported from students.
The province also confirms three school closures out of the 601 schools currently reporting cases.
As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 528 total confirmed cases, as well as 105 centres and 426 homes closed.
On Tuesday, the province confirmed 1,388 new COVID-19 cases, breaking the record once again.
This is the seventh time the province has reported more than 1,000 cases in a single day over the course of a week.
