Ontario schools report 10 closures, over 130 new COVID-19 cases
The Government of Ontario reports 138 new COVID-19 cases in schools on Monday morning, with 10 school closures in the province.
According to the provincial government, 109 cases reported today are student-related, and 29 are staff-related.
The new total has now reached 5,402 since back to school.
There have been 1,526 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 3,876 reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

Out of the total cases recorded since September, about 65% have been from students.
The province now reports 10 school closures out of the 803 schools that have cases.

As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 893 total confirmed cases with 141 centres and 465 homes closed.

The provincial government reports 1,925 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, breaking the highest-single day since the beginning of the pandemic.
This past weekend saw record-high numbers with Sunday’s 1,924 breaking Saturday’s record 1,859 cases.
Numbers have been over 1,000 for a few weeks with today’s numbers being an increase from Friday’s 1,780, Thursday’s 1,824, Wednesday’s 1,723, Tuesday’s 1,707, Monday’s 1,746, and Sunday’s 1,708.
