The Government of Ontario is reporting 99 more COVID-19 cases in schools in Thursday’s update, surpassing 2,098 school cases since September.
According to the provincial government, 55 of the new cases are student-related, nine are staff-related, and 35 are unidentified.
There has been a reported 923 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 1,175 cases reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.
Out of the 2,098 cases reported since September, about 55% of cases have been reported from students.
There are no school closures to report at this time; however, 581 schools currently have reported cases.
As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 415 total confirmed cases, as well as 91 centres and 387 homes closed.
On Wednesday, the Government of Ontario reported the first 1,000 student cases since back to school season last month.
The province continues to report a significant amount of cases with a reported 934 new coronavirus cases on Thursday morning, a 100-case increase from the 834 on Wednesday.
