Ontario reporting some of the highest new coronavirus case numbers since July

The province has confirmed 185 COVID-19 cases for Tuesday morning and 190 for Monday, which are some of the highest reported numbers since July.

On July 24, 195 new cases were reported.

There are no reported deaths on Tuesday with a total of 119 resolved from the previous day.

According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, on Tuesday, 28 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases.

Toronto is reporting 48 cases with 42 in Peel and 37 in Ottawa.

“Combined, the province processed nearly 45,000 tests over the past two days,” Elliot said.

The cases follow more than a week that has seen daily totals stay over 100 including Sunday’s 158, Saturday’s 169 cases, Friday’s 148Thursday’s 132, and Wednesday’s 133.

There has been a total of 43,536 coronavirus cases to date, with 39,196 resolved and 2,813 reported deaths.

Select schools are also starting classes this week, with Premier Doug Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce set to make an announcement this afternoon.
