Ontario government to present 2020 budget as COVID-19 pandemic continues

Nov 5 2020, 2:13 pm

The Ontario Government is set to present the 2020 budget on Thursday afternoon as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Earlier this week, the province said the budget will lay out the details of the next stage of its COVID-19 response.

Part of this includes the improvements to long-term care which were announced on Monday, which would see residents in the facilities receive an average of four hours of direct care daily.

A fiscal update was last given in March when the government announced a $17 billion aid package. With all the additional spending for the pandemic response, the province is expected to have a deficit of $38.5 billion for the upcoming year.

The budget will be presented at 4 pm in Queen’s Park.
