Ford to make announcement with Education Minister this afternoon

Premier Doug Ford will be providing his daily announcement on Wednesday afternoon as the province continues to report higher numbers of COVID-19 cases.

Ford will be joined by Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, Minister of Long-Term Care, Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, and Minister of Infrastructure, Laurie Scott, at Queen’s Park.

The province saw a record-breaking 1,042 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday morning, breaking Saturday’s record for the highest case count since the virus began. At the time, Saturday broke the record for most cases with 978.

As for Ontario schools, related cases surpassed the 1,000 mark, totalling 1,063 students testing positive since September. Staff numbers remain at 261 and 586 for individuals not identified.

The daily press briefing will take place at 1:30 pm.
