Ontario reporting 42 new coronavirus cases in schools

The Government of Ontario is reporting 42 more coronavirus cases in schools, bringing the total to 180 reported in the province.

In the September 23 update, 21 of the new cases are student-related, five are staff-related, and 16 are unidentified.

The numbers are reported daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

Of the total cases, 24 are from the Toronto District School Board.

There are also 21 from Ottawa, 23 from Brampton, 14 from Mississauga, and 10 from Oakville.

As for licensed child care centres, there are now 108 total cases that have caused the closure of 25 centres and 115 homes.

Despite the Government of Ontario reporting 335 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday morning, cases continue to increase across the region.

In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Premier Doug Ford announced that social gatherings in Toronto, Peel, and Ottawa will be limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
