Toronto’s famous NOW Magazine will no longer post sex ads in the back of its paper.
Editor and publisher Alice Klein announced the news in a letter to readers published in NOW Magazine’s September 6 issue.
“NOW will always be sex positive and shameless in our support for sexual choice and the rights of sex workers,” Klein wrote. “But this week marks a change for how we do that in our print publication. NOW will no longer be carrying sex ads in the back of the paper.”
For years, the back of the magazine had advertisements for sexual services.
Klein said the ads used to be of interest to some and challenging for others.
But, she also said, the digital world “offers a robust marketplace for sex workers.”
