You can get a FREE turkey at Bloor and Bathurst on December 16

Gobble up this opportunity to get free turkey from the mayor.

Old traditions are becoming new again on Sunday when Mayor John Tory, Councillor Mike Layton, and Jacob and Leyla Mirvish give away free turkeys to families in need.

The group of Toronto-known faces will join hosts from Westbank, the event’s organizer, at the Mirvish Village redevelopment site. The giveaway at Bloor and Bathurst brings back the tradition started by Ed Mirvish in 1987.

This turkey giveaway marks the beginning of the new Mirvish Village. The re-vamped area will bring together residential, commercial, cultural, and civic spaces to support a vibrant and varied community.

The giveaway is also connected to the new-this-year King Street Holiday Market, which is currently running downtown and features Christmas tree sales, local vendors and festive treats.

You’ll be able to get your hands on a free turkey starting at 11 am on Sunday.

And there’s a chance they’ll go quick, so make sure you arrive early, ready to bring a big bird home.
