Here's how Maple Leafs players are spending their summer

Aug 16 2017, 12:03 am

The Leafs don’t begin their regular season until October 4, but that’s not to say they haven’t been busy this offseason.

Some have been tanning, some have been training, and others have been doing things that are just flat out weird.

After all, it looks like things might have gotten a little crazy at Tyler Bozak’s wedding last month.

We got bashin ✌️congrats to The Bozak’s!

Though Marner was just hanging out…

And I’m pretty sure every leafs player got a picture with their wife and/or girlfriend from that hilltop. But my God who could blame them… just look at that view!

Jake Gardiner tied the knot as well.

Auston Matthews hit up his third ballpark of the summer.

Matthews was quite the ball player growing up, deciding to pursue hockey when he was 13. Remember when he hit a home run at Rogers Centre in April?

On the topic of baseball, here’s Matthews with teammates Frederik Andersen and William Nylander at Fenway Park in Boston. He nailed the accent.

Nylander raced off the next day to do a promo shoot for Bauer with Patrick Kane and Patrick Laine.

Notice that Nylander’s helmet straps are white, compared to last season’s black. Is this a preview of the Leafs’ new 2017-18 uniforms? Forget Marleau, that’s the big offseason change.

But while the helmet looks nice, nothing compares to the hat Nylander was rocking back home in Sweden on the first of May.

So it looks like the Leafs are having a pretty fun summer, but it can’t be forgotten that preseason begins September 18.

Yes that’s right – preseason hockey is less than one month away.

This needs to be another big year for the blue and white, and too much fun can be detrimental to team success. Remember when they lost 7 to 2 against the Florida Panthers in March the day after an impromptu fishing trip?

Because Mitch Marner sure does, just look at that smile.

What a day of fishing 🐠🐟

Everyone was ripping on him, and while there’s nothing wrong with getting some sun, you certainly have to balance it out.

Safe to say he got the message, and Babcock would be proud.

Nazem Kadri has also been hitting the gym this summer after a career year, and for an athlete who said in 2014 he could develop into a John Tavares-level player, there’s no denying his motivation.

Get up ☝🏽

I mean that height is absurd… are you kidding me? But just wait, there’s more.

And then of course we have Zach Hyman, busy making the world a better place one day at a time.

Another great year up north supporting @rallyforkids!

What an offseason, can’t wait until they get back on the ice.

Is it October yet?
