Man in 'critical condition' after jumping onto moving vehicle in east end: police
Police say a man is in critical condition after he jumped onto a moving vehicle in the city’s east end early Saturday morning.
Police said they received a call for a collision at 2:16 am in the area of Donlands Avenue and O’Connor Drive and found a man in his 20s unconscious at the scene.
Police say witnesses said the man may have jumped onto the back of a moving vehicle and fell off and struck his head.
Emergency crews transported the man to hospital in critical condition.

Police said they are now asking any witnesses to come forward as they continue to look for the driver of the vehicle, which is described as a white cube van.
Detective Constable Scott Matthews said the driver of the van may not have know the man was on the back of the van, but added police would still like to speak with him.

However, while officers were investigating, a 48-year-old man from Markham drove around the police vehicles, which had their emergency lights on, and drove through the police tape, said Matthews.

Matthews said the driver was then stopped and failed a roadside test after blowing over the legal limit.
The driver was charged with impaired driving and lost his licence for 90 days and his vehicle for seven. He now faces a minimum fine of $1000 and one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
