Legalization day is just around the corner, and in Toronto, rideshare companies are looking to combat impaired driving… especially on October 17.

Lyft will be offering $10.17 (get it?) off rides on legalization day, within the GTA.

“Combatting impaired driving is an important and ongoing goal for Lyft. We are excited to work with Tokyo Smoke to mark the legalization of recreational cannabis and provide an affordable and reliable transportation alternative with Lyft, on 10/17 and every day,” said Aaron Zifkin, Managing Director at Lyft Canada.

To get Lyft’s discount, riders need to use the promo code: TOKYOSMOKE1017

Meanwhile, Uber is offering 40,000 promo codes for $5 off through the campaign website DontDriveHigh.

The campaign is an initiative with Tweed and MADD Canada.

“As legalization takes effect, this strategic partnership gives us an opportunity to reach millions of Canadians and generate awareness around the impacts of using cannabis and driving,” said Adam Blinick, Director of Public Policy and Communications for Uber Canada.

“We encourage cannabis users across the country to make responsible choices and consider alternative transportation options like public transit or ridesharing to prevent the risks and dangers of impaired driving.”

To access the Uber discount, users need to visit DontDriveHigh and follow the instructions.
