22-year-old kidnapping victim located as suspects remain at large

Wanzhen Lu has been located.

The 22-year-old was allegedly kidnapped on March 23 in Markham, and police say he was located in Gravenhurst.

According to York Regional Police, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, shortly before 9 pm, a man walked up to a residence on Doe Lake Road in the Town of Gravenhurst. The man was looking for help.

The homeowner called police and officers with the OPP attended and identified the man as 22-year-old Wanzhen Lu. Police say Lu was suffering from minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing as the four suspects responsible for the kidnapping remain at large.

On Tuesday, police arrested a 35-year-old man from Toronto as part of the investigation, but he has been released unconditionally.

Lu was taken on Saturday, March 23, shortly before 6 pm in an underground parking garage at a condominium building located at 15 Water Walk Drive, which is in the area of Highway 7 and Birchmount Road in Markham.

Three men, one of whom was armed with a taser, exited a van and grabbed the victim. The victim was resisting and was shocked by the suspects. The suspects allegedly forced the victim into the van and fled.

The suspects are described as:

• Suspect 1: Male, wearing a mask, blue pants, and black jacket.
• Suspect 2: Male, dark skin, 6’1”, and wearing black Canada Goose jacket.
• Suspect 3: Male, dark skin, 6’2”, heavier build, and wearing dark blue jeans with a black jacket.
• Suspect 4: Male, wearing a green/yellow jacket with a hood.
