One person has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of 22-year-old Chinese student Wanzhen Lu, according to York Regional Police.
However, police say Lu has not been located.
On Tuesday, March 26, investigators arrested a 35-year-old Toronto man who is believed to be involved in the kidnapping of Lu.
Police say the suspect’s name will not be released at this time as he has not been charged as of yet.
“York Regional Police is dedicating every available resource to this investigation as we continue to fear for the well-being of Mr. Lu,” reads a statement from York police.
The Homicide and Missing Person Unit is leading the investigation, with additional investigators being brought in from other specialty units, including Organized Crime and Intelligence Services.
The investigation is also supported by Special Services, Emergency Response, Canine, Air Support and the Forensic Identification Units, whose members have been working around the clock since Lu was kidnapped.
Police are urging the suspects to release Lu unharmed and to seek legal counsel and turn themselves in.

According to police, on Saturday, March 23, shortly before 6 pm, Lu and his friend were in an underground parking garage at a condominium building located at 15 Water Walk Drive, which is in the area of Highway 7 and Birchmount Road.
Police say, three men, one of whom was armed with a taser, exited a van and grabbed the victim.
The victim was resisting and was allegedly shocked by the suspects, who then forced the victim into the van and fled.

York Regional Police have since located the vehicle involved in the kidnapping thanks to tips from members of the public, but investigators continue to appeal for any information on Lu’s whereabouts.
Police say that the vehicle was not occupied when they found it, and they will not be releasing further details on where the vehicle was located.
The suspects are described as:
- Suspect 1: Male, wearing a mask, blue pants, and black jacket.
- Suspect 2: Male, dark skin, 6’1”, and wearing black Canada Goose jacket.
- Suspect 3: Male, dark skin, 6’2”, heavier build, and wearing dark blue jeans with a black jacket.
- Suspect 4: Male, wearing a green/yellow jacket with a hood.
