Police break up 200 person house party in Brampton

Jul 26 2020, 10:28 pm

Peel Regional Police officers spent nearly two hours Saturday night breaking up a massive Brampton house party that was in contravention of pandemic restrictions.

Const. Kyle Villers said there were more than 200 people at the party when police showed up to the house near Countryside and Goreway drives around 10 pm.

They called in Brampton bylaw officers to help, and had everyone out of the house by about midnight.

Villers said there’s no word yet whether anyone is facing charges for hosting the large party while coronavirus gathering rules are still in place because the bylaw office isn’t open on the weekends.

The Peel health region is still in Phase 2 of the pandemic restart plan, meaning gatherings are restricted to 10 people at the most.

The Ontario government still recommends people wear masks and practice physical distancing with everyone outside their 10-person social circle.
