Toronto's popular "love" sign in the Distillery District now says "hate"

One of the most distinct features in the Distillery District is its LOVE sign.

Made out of love locks, the sign is an Insta-worthy Toronto landmark, which has been made part of the annual Light Festival as well.

For those unfamiliar, here is the sign as it usually looks:

Love on Love/ Studio Rosenblatt

And during the 2019 Toronto Light Festival, the Love sign was doubled up.

A neon light spelling “love” was placed on top of the locks.

This year, the artist behind both the Love sign, and its neon lights, changed up the popular landmark for the 2020 Toronto Light Festival.

Hate is now spelled out in neon, above the Love locks sign.

Love it, or hate it, the display will be on throughout the Light Fest, which ends on March 1.
