Here's where to find free yoga and meditation classes in Toronto

March is upon us which means it’s time for spring cleaning… and that includes your mind.

If winter has left you feeling cooped up and stuffy, there are a number of meditation-focused events that coming up will help clear head.

So grab your mat, hop into something comfy and get ready to tap into your zen.

Free Yoga Classes – March until mid-May

The Sony Centre offers free yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. No experience is required, but bring your own mat and water. Registration is usually available online ahead of the class.

Martial Arts and Self Defense

No experience is required for these traditional martial arts and self-defence classes. Presented by Shaolin Temple Quanfa Institute, these should keep your Tuesday evenings busy for the next few weeks. You can find a sense of calm in self-discipline.

The Healing Session – Meditation, Reiki and Sound Healing

Join Cassidy from Just Be Meditation for an opening meditation, followed by a sound therapy session led by Alexandria Santaguida (TOA), during which hands-on reiki healing will be offered. Get ready to receive the beautiful healing sounds of the crystal singing bowls. Together with Alexandria’s voice, you will be brought into a state of pure bliss and deep relaxation. She will guide the class through gentle yogic movements and meditation, before resting in savasana to the sound of Alexandria’s vocals and crystal singing bowls.

Reiki and Release with Consonant Skincare 

Just Be Meditation’s Cassidy will lead this one-hour meditation class, which will include a chakra balancing meditation, hands-on reiki treatment and a relaxing sound bath as you lie in the comfort of savasana. Talk about the ideal way to start a Sunday. Follow with brunch?

Elevated Vibrations

Experience the healing power of vibration through both a meditation and crystal singing bowl sound bath. Cassidy from Just Be Meditation will guide you through an opening meditation, followed by sound therapy with Alexandria. Beginners to meditation are most welcome as there’s no experience necessary. Be sure to bring a mat, and note that the ticket price include the class, an Indigo journal and a pen. Due to the intimate nature of this event, a maximum of 15 tickets are available.

Voice Discovery Singalong + Meditation

This workshop is a space with a special focus on anyone who identifies as “shy” with their singing. Take the opportunity to join with people who feel similar to you and connect to your centre through guided meditation. Then, embark on a voice discovery singalong that will take attendees into the creative music everyone has inside.
