Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement on Tuesday afternoon as Ontario is in the midst of a third COVID-19 wave.

On Monday, the province began allowing those 75 and older in the province to book for a COVID-19 vaccine through the online portal.

To date, 1,553,040 vaccines have been administered with 299,297 fully vaccinated.

The COVID-19 cases in the province have also been high recently with Monday’s 1,699, Sunday’s 1,791, Saturday’s 1,829, and Friday’s 1,745.

Ontario’s top doctor, Dr. David Williams, has confirmed that the province is in the midst of a COVID-19 third wave, but noted it’s unclear what kind of wave this will be.

Ford will be joined by Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury Board, and Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility, to make the announcement.

The press briefing will take place at 3:30 pm in Toronto.
