Ford to give announcement as more Ontario regions move into the Red Zone

Premier Doug Ford will provide an announcement on Monday afternoon as more regions move into the Red – Control zone today.

On Saturday, Ontario confirmed 1,581 new COVID-19 cases—the highest single-day count since the pandemic began, with cases continuously breaking records last week.

Due to the surge in cases, on Friday, Health Minister Christine Elliott said that Hamilton, Halton Region, Peel Public Health, Toronto Public Health and York Region will be in the red zone.

Ford emphasized that residents in the red zones should limit trips from outside of the home to essential reasons only like work, school, grocery shopping, exercise, and medical appointments.

The premier will be joined by Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Lisa Thompson, Minister of Government and Consumer Services, Peter Bethlenfalvy, President of the Treasury Board, and Elliott at 1 pm at Queen’s Park for the announcement.
