An 18-year-old man has died following a drive-by shooting in Etobicoke Wednesday evening.

According to police, multiple shots were fired in the area of Elmhurst Drive and Islington Avenue when a male teen was walking around 9:20 pm.

Police say the teen tried to run away after he was shot but he collapsed.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the male lying on the ground suffering from severe trauma.

The victim was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators say a number of men were seen fleeing the scene in a black vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators.

This is the city’s first fatal shooting of 2019, bringing the total number of homicides so far this year to three.

On Thursday, a victim was found dead in an east-end apartment building. Police say that there are no outstanding suspects.

Over the weekend, a Toronto man was stabbed to death, which marked the city’s first homicide of 2019.
