Chai and pimped-out parothas coming soon to Harbord Village

Sep 29 2016, 11:16 pm

Elchi Chai Shop is just weeks away from opening its doors in Toronto’s Harbord Village.

Following a successful debut at Halal Food Fest in 2016, co-owners and sisters Sukaina and Sayyeda Ebrahim have secured a permanent home where authentic Indian chai, lassis, and snack foods like parotha will be on the menu.

Made on the stove with milk, house-blended teas will be offered in a variety of unique flavours including ginger, cardamom, and chocolate. Meanwhile yogurt-based smoothies will be made in flavours like coconut blueberry, mixed berry and strawberry.

The promised parothas will employ the Ebrahim family recipe with a Western twist. Look forward to the light flaky roti-like flat bread sandwiching savoury fillings like pulled beef with a trio of chutneys, and sweet options loaded with bananas and Nutella, or peanut butter and Oreo cookies.
