A McDonald’s restaurant near Yonge and Wellesley is temporarily closing after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

After the employee received their result on November 4, the restaurant at 552 Yonge Street decided to close that same day.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitization by a certified third party,” McDonald’s said in a news release.

“We are working to ensure we reopen safely, as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities.”

The sick employee worked their last shift on October 30 from 11 am to 2 pm. All other employees who were on that shift have been asked to self-isolate.

McDonald’s is also asking guests who visited on October 30 to monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days.
