Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones to make an announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Ontario’s COVID-19 case count continues to surge above 3,000 daily cases, as Tuesday reported 3,128, with 51 more reported deaths.

It is a decrease from Monday’s 3,270, Sunday reported 2,964, and Saturday’s record-breaking 3,363.

Despite the growing number, as vaccinations makes its rounds, Ford boasted that Ontario will lead North America once the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is ramped up.

On Tuesday, Ford said, “As we ramp up as you’ve noticed throughout this pandemic, it might take us a week – maybe a couple weeks – but once we get the machine going in Ontario, we kick butt anywhere in the country or North America.”

He added, “Whether it’s the testing, we’re leading North America, or the world in testing, or PPE – once we put Team Ontario behind it, we become the leaders.”

The press briefing will take place at 1 pm from Queen’s Park.
