Ontario Premier Doug Ford is set to make an announcement Monday afternoon from Niagara Falls as COVID-19 cases continue to spike.

Health Minister Christine Elliott will not be joining because she’s receiving her first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at a Toronto area pharmacy Monday morning.

The politician previously said she’d broadcast her vaccination to show people it’s safe, and the government will be providing video footage of her shot Monday afternoon.

Ford’s latest announcement comes on the same day that rules are relaxing in Ontario’s Grey-Lockdown zones, allowing outdoor fitness classes to resume.

Next Monday, personal care businesses such as hair salons and tattoo shops will also be allowed to re-open in lockdown zones.

Ontario’s daily COVID-19 cases have been on the rise recently, with the province reporting more than 2,000 new infections for the last four days.
