City to keep splash pads open all weekend due to warm temperatures

It’s going to feel like 39°C this weekend in Toronto, according to Environment Canada, so the City is keeping its splash pads open until Monday.

While generally pools and splash pads close for the season, the majority of the City of Toronto’s splash pads will be available for residents to cool down during this unseasonably warm weekend.

“I’d like to thank City staff who worked quickly to ensure that as many splash pads as possible could stay open this weekend to take advantage of the great weather,” said Mayor John Tory in a statement. “This is a fantastic way to keep soaking up the summer and I’m glad we’re able to give residents a chance to continue to enjoy most of the City’s splash pads.”

Because of the splash pads have had their electrical timers shut off, staff will be reseting the timers to ensure they are working for the weekend.

Splash pads are open daily from 9 am to 8:30 pm and are activated through push-button features. A full list of locations can be found here.
