Toronto is getting a new Argentinian bar from Che food truck

Che, once a beloved food truck roaming from pop-up food fests to curbside lunch breaks in Toronto, has finally found a permanent home.

Owner Sebastian Gallucci and partner Mike Mizzi are opening Ama, an Argentinan lounge where the kitchen and bar stay open from lunch until late night and serve up brunch on Sundays.

The all-day destination is taking over the address that was until recently Cadillac Jenkins at 930 Queen West. If all goes planned will be open before summer’s end.

While construction has just commenced, Gallucci shares with Daily Hive that they’re moving a piano in today and the plan is to host live DJs and musicians day and night channeling loungey, but casual vibes of Buenos Aires bars.

Getting the good vibes flowing, expect a wine list that will emphasize bottles from Argentina, Italy, and Spain. Meanwhile, the menu will showcase signature items popularized on the Ché food truck (and still available for catered orders).

Toronto can finally look forward to a reliable choripan and some of the city’s best guacamole and an ever changing selection of empanadas, ceviches, grilled things doused unlimited chimichurri, and special features inspired by Argentinian beach towns like Mar El Plata.
