Downtown Toronto just got a mouthwatering new Italian restaurant
Cantina Mercatto is now open on Wellington Street East, nestled between the St. Lawrence Market and the Financial District.
Designed by award-winning Studio Munge, the 5,300-sq-ft restaurant offers lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
The new spot has 200 seats, including a 32-seat private dining mezzanine and come spring 2019, guests can enjoy a 50-seat patio. Through light colours, organic lines and natural materials, the space offers a light and airy feel.

And the decor brings in a magical touch: hanging vines, lemons and sea creatures floating throughout a vineyard give the walls a whimsical look.
While the atmosphere is vast and expansive, the menu is more of the same. Expect to see comforting Italian classics alongside with bar snacks, vegetable-forward dishes, and antipasti.
“This menu reflects the natural evolution of Mercatto and our interpretation of modern Italian food,” said Executive Chef Doug Neigel.

Guests can enjoy prosciutto pizza, gnocchi, lamb loin salad and fried calamari… just to name a few items.
