The Toronto Blue Jays are taking some flack this morning after promoting an upcoming Kendrick Lamar concert on X.
Kendrick has been in a very public beef with Toronto-born rapper Drake dating back several months, with the two releasing a series of diss tracks about one another. To no surprise, many in Canada, and Toronto specifically, have taken Drake’s side in the feud, but that didn’t stop the Blue Jays from announcing a Kendrick concert at Rogers Centre this coming June.

While Drake is known mainly in the sports world for his role as a global ambassador with the Toronto Raptors, he is also a fan of the Blue Jays. He even uploaded a photo of himself rocking a Shohei Ohtani jersey last year when many believed the superstar was signing as a free agent with the Jays.

To no surprise, many Blue Jays fans aren’t happy to see their team promoting the concert of a rapper who has taken many shots at Drake as of late.

As is quite obvious based on the responses, the beef between the two picked up a ton of steam on the internet. It even gained traction in the sports world, as Drake and former Raptors star Demar DeRozan wound up in a feud after the latter made an appearance in one of Kendrick’s diss tracks, “Not Like Us.”

āIf you ever put a DeRozan banner up, Iāll go up there and pull it down myself,ā Drake said on the broadcast of a Raptors game in which they retired Vince Carter’s jersey.
With Lamar being one of the most famous rappers on the planet, there shouldn’t be issues when it comes to selling tickets for this particular concert. Still, there seem to be plenty of Blue Jays fans who aren’t at all happy with their team promoting it.
