Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu has tested positive for COVID-19.

Andreescu revealed her positive test on social media on April 25, telling fans that she would not be playing in the upcoming Madrid Open as planned.

“After testing negative twice before my flight to Madrid, I was sadly informed that I tested positive upon arrival for COVID-19,” she tweeted.

“Therefore [I] will not be playing at the Madrid Open later this week.”

She went on to say that she was “feeling good,” and would be continuing to follow all “health protocols and safety guidelines.”

Andreescu’s coach, Sylvain Bruneau, tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this year.

The 20-year-old Mississauga native made history in 2019 when she became the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam singles title at the US Open.

“I look forward to getting back on the court very soon,” Andreescu said.
