Band-Aid "exploring" bringing diverse skin tone bandages to Canada

Band-Aid shared new bandages in a diverse range of skin tones on Instagram this week, but it’s not clear if Canadians will be able to purchase the darker colours.

Company spokesperson Katherine Lal told Daily Hive that it’s planning to launch the new skin tones in the US and is “exploring” bringing these products to Canada. It’s not clear when the Johnson & Johnson-owned company will make a decision.

“We currently sell BAND-AID brand Clear Strips Adhesive Bandages, which were designed to be used by people with a variety of skin tones. These bandages were launched in the 1950s,” Lal said.

On Instagram, Band-Aid said it’s launching the new bandages in the US because “we stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, collaborators, and community in the fight against racism, violence, and injustice.”

Several other companies already offer bandages in a diverse range of shades, including Tru-Colour and Browndages.
