A massive 4,400 square foot space on Queen Street West in Toronto is the new home of ASICS’ first ever Canadian flagship store.
The athletic performance brand is set to open the doors to its newest flagship on March 9.
“Our first Canadian flagship store represents a larger brand shift,” said Richard Sullivan, President of ASICS Canada, in a release. “The flagship store represents the new direction of the brand, offering consumers a brand experience aimed at celebrating movement, while offering them the best of our products across bothmperformance and lifestyle, better catering to their needs.”
To celebrate the flagship, the store is hosting opening weekend events from March 9 to 11. ASICS will have a variety of complimentary sneaker-inspired talks and panels focusing on ‘moving’ sneaker culture.
Speakers and panelists include:
• One-on-one chat with Deon Point, Concepts, on Friday, March 9 at 6:45 pm
• A panel discussion curated by Bryan Brock, Creative Director, on Saturday, March 10 at 11 am
• A panel discussion curated by Meredydd Hardie, on Sunday, March 11 at 1 pm
The retailer will feature two brands in the ASICS family, ASICS and ASICSTIGERTM, in the flagship.
According to the brand, ASICS covers shoes and apparel “designed for athletes and sports enthusiasts with the purpose of improving performance by continuing to offer the best product.”
And ASICSTIGERTM draws inspiration from the authentic Japanese heritage of ASICS, and is considered a lifestyle brand that takes a street-inspired approach to classic footwear and apparel silhouettes.
ASICS was founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949, and the company began by manufacturing basketball shoes in Kobe, Japan.
