Update: As of Wednesday, just after 3 pm, police say the children have been located and are safe.

The Amber Alert issued on Tuesday afternoon helped police receive a tip on the father who allegedly abducted 5 children.

According to further investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Child Abuse Unit, 45-year-old Ian Glenn MacDermid is believed to be driving a 2002, red 4-door Toyota Camry with Ontario Licence marker CJMB 976.

As of 5 pm on October 1, police say MacDermid was observed within the Niagara Region in this vehicle. The children were not with him at the time.

“This information is a direct result of the Amber Alert that was issued on October 1,” said police.
