Looking for a job? Amazon has announced it will create more than 6,200 jobs in Ontario for seasonal employment this year.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, Amazon has created 10,000 seasonal jobs across Canada and more than half are in Ontario.

Over 6,200 jobs will be found in the province for seasonal employment and their starting wage begins at $16.

“Amazon was recently named #2 on the Forbes World’s Best Employers list, a list based entirely on anonymous employee input, which reflects Amazon’s highly-competitive pay, benefits from day one, and training programs for in-demand jobs, among other criteria,” said the company in an email to Daily Hive.

Just last month, the tech company announced they would be creating 3,500 new tech and corporate jobs in Toronto and Vancouver.

In the coming years, 3,000 of those jobs will be created in Vancouver with 500 in Toronto, creating tangible benefits for the “broader economy and community.”

In addition to those future plans, Amazon announced they would be creating 2,500 full-time jobs in the GTA and Hamilton area, opening two new fulfillment centres in Hamilton and Ajax.

Set to open in 2021, this will bring Amazon’s total to 10 fulfillment centres in Ontario and 16 in Canada.
