It’s $3.99 for a deli sandwich and still just $5 to make it a sub at this long-time Hamilton favourite, in business for over 60 years. Five dollars will also get you a hot veal, chicken or sausage sandwich. You’ll need a little extra change for the meatball, roast beef, or prosciutto subs, but not much.

Duarte’s Supermarket
You won’t find better value than a $3 sandwich at the Portuguese Duarte’s Supermarket, a cornerstone of Hamilton’s Barton Street for over 25 years. That covers the basic cold cuts – or you can get meatball ($3.50), sausage or pork bifana ($4) or veal/chicken parm ($5) generously smothered in sauce and cheese.
