Police say 114 drivers have been charged with street racing in the Greater Toronto Area in the past 13 days.
The drivers were all stopped throughout the GTA by officers with the provincial police, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
According to Schmidt, all incidents occurred since May 1.

This comes as provincial police launched a new traffic safety initiative called “Safe on 6,” where OPP officers will be monitoring Highway 6, which runs right through the province.
According to Schmidt, this means they’re looking for the big four: distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.

Additionally, on Tuesday, May 14, Canada Road Safety week will kick off, and OPP officers will be joining forces with police from across the country in order to increase public compliance with safe driving measures in order to save lives and reduce injuries on Canadian roads.
Each day of the campaign will highlight a different driver behaviour that puts drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users most at risk.
