For the ninth year in a row, the University of Washington (UW) Medical Center in Seattle has been named the number one hospital in Washington State and in the Seattle Metropolitan area by the US News and World Report.

The hospital also received top-50 national rankings in nine specialties: fifth in rehabilitation medicine, ninth in cancer care, ninth in diabetes and endocrinology, 19th for ear, nose, and throat, 23rd for gynecology, 42nd for orthopedics, 47th for pulmonology and lung surgery, 49th for nephrology, and 50th for geriatrics.

“To have nine specialties recognized among the nation’s very best is a testament to the excellence of our care model that integrates care with national leadership in research and education,” said Dr. Paul Ramsey, CEO of UW Medicine, in a news release. “These rankings show that we indeed provide a higher degree of healthcare for our patients and our community.”
