All the games announced during Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal

It was a huge day for PlayStation fans, as Sony finally opened the curtains hiding their new PlayStation 5 console.

Never one to let a decent opportunity fall to the wayside, the folks at PlayStation took their audience on a massive journey through an extremely large amount of announcements surrounding some of the biggest franchises in gaming.

Everyone tuned in to finally get a glimpse of this upcoming console, but we were treated with an hour and some change of intense game reveal trailers and enough hype to keep you vibrating until release day.

After a brief montage of PlayStation-exclusive titles and a celebration of the history behind the console, the event kicked off on a confusing note by playing a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V (a game that has been out since 2013.) But the trailer wound up promoting an enhanced version of the game set to release on the PS5.

Beyond that, the hype-train left the station and didn’t seem to slow down until we landed at the very end of the event, which revealed to the world the PlayStation 5 console for the very first time.

Here is everything that was announced during the PS5 reveal event.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

PlayStation Studios revealed the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Marvel Spider-Man title, featuring Miles Morales as the titular Spider-Man. Coming in 2020, Insomniac Games is making the smart move of vaulting Morales to the forefront of their franchise, given the wild success and adoration of the feature animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Gran Turismo 7

Following Spider-Man, it was revealed that Gran Turismo 7 is in development internally for the upcoming console, and it looks to be making a return to its beloved simulation roots.

Ratchet & Clank: Rifts Apart

PlayStation Studios (and Insomniac Games again) also revealed that a new Ratchet & Clank game is in the works. It features dimension jumping, and signature gizmos known to the franchise. The team complemented the reveal with a look at actual gameplay.

Project Athea

Also revealed was Project Athea, a third-person action game from Square Enix that looks like it could be Final Fantasy-related. It also featured a From Software-looking dragon.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Yet another notable return for Sony’s internal studios, a new Little Big Planet game was announced. Titled Sackboy: A Big Adventure, this up-to-four-player adventure game takes the franchise to a 3D platformer world similar to that of Banjo Kazooie and modern Mario titles.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

PlayStation is also bringing back the Oddworld franchise, announcing an in-development return to the oddly dystopian land brought to us first during the PlayStation 1 era.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Tokyo Gameworks finally brought us the first look at their recently teased first-person action game Ghostwire: Tokyo, which looks like an adrenaline-fueled fight against spirits and the supernatural.

Demon’s Souls

Remastered by acclaimed studio Bluepoint Games, players who missed out on the original Dark Souls game by From Software will be given the opportunity to return or journey to the world of Demon’s Souls for the first time, in the near future.

Resident Evil VIII

The next game in the RE franchise returns to the new standard set out by Resident Evil VII, with VILLAGE: Resident Evil. This first-person horror-survival game has a whole lot of creepy and a ton of atmosphere.

Horizon: Forbidden West

Expanding on the brilliantly twisted world of nature and machines, this PlayStation exclusive franchise made tremendous waves in the gaming world when the first title in the series launched on the PlayStation 4 some seven years ago. The difficult-to-master sophomore game will launch on PS5, and it looks to take everything up a notch.

Aside from strong and notable PlayStation exclusive franchises like Spider-Man, Little Big Planet, Horizon, and others, Sony lifted the veil on a veritable mountain of other games from developers both beloved and lesser-known.

Stray – A neo-Tokyo puzzle platformer in which you play as a stray cat.

Destruction Allstars – A demolition derby party combat game.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits – A third-person adventure puzzle game set in a magical world.

Goodbye Volcano High – Story-driven narrative featuring unique art and anthropomorphic animals.

Godfall – Gearbox Studio’s combat-focused action-adventure game with a whole lot of Dark Souls inspiration.

Solar Ash – A new artistic adventure game from the makers of Hyper Light Drifter.

Hitman III – The latest game in the recently rebooted Hitman franchise.

Jett: The Far Shore – A dystopian adventure game from the makers of Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery.

Astro’s Playroom – This is an updated version of the current PlayStation playroom, featuring tiny robot Astro.

Little Devil Inside – Part Monster Hunter, part Dark Souls, part Metroid, this wonderfully stylized game looks to bring some quirk and story to the adventure genre.

NBA 2k21 – Zion of the New Orleans Pelicans introduced the first-ever trailer for 2K Game’s latest in their beloved NBA franchise. The trailer featured pre-alpha footage and the game is slated to arrive this fall.

Bugsnax – Adventure through the island of bug/snacks in this deliciously adorable new game from the makers of Octodad.

Deathloop – The makers of Dishonored return for a new first-person action stealth shooter title where the player is forced to try and break a loop in which everyone on an island is tasked with killing you. Uncover the puzzle to escape.

Pragmata – Coming in 2022, this action sci-fi game looks straight out of the lore set in Death Stranding and featured some pretty interesting hints at gameplay mechanics.
