Seattle Pride events will be held virtually again this year

Rather than risk canceling all parades and events this year, organizers behind Seattle Pride have announced the decision to shift this year’s celebrations to a series of online events.

These celebrations include the 2021 Seattle Pride in the Park and Seattle Pride Parade on June 26 and 27.

“With the pandemic still spreading at a rapid pace, we could not in good conscience move forward with plans for our June events which bring thousands of people together in close proximity,” said Seattle Pride Executive Director Krystal Marx. “Our efforts now shift to building on the success of last year’s virtual Pride, so we can continue to bring our community together to celebrate diversity.”

Seattle Pride hasn’t yet set a theme and is currently calling on the public to submit suggestions online.

Organizers of Seattle Pride remain hopeful about hosting smaller-scale, in-person events incorporating public health protocols in late summer or early fall. All organizations are in discussions with local health officials and are continuing to closely monitor the situation.
