Staying on trend with the latest looks in fashion or in your home doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive.

In fact, changing some simple things around can really make a difference to the look in your home. If you’re looking for some inspiration and foresight into the trends of 2021, look no further than Pantone’s colors for 2021.

These are colors picked by Pantone every year that they forecast will be trending, so why not get a jump on it?

Pantone’s colors for 2021 are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. Two contrasting colors that go exceedingly well together and would be a lovely addition to any home because of their versatility. But how to style them? I’ve got some suggestions for bringing these beautiful colors into your home as we head into the new year.

Comforting items are a great way to add new textures and colors into your home without having to commit to those colors for years.

The bright yellow color of Illuminating will look homely against the neutral colors of most sofas.

If you have a bright-colored sofa, try using Ultimate Gray in order to avoid colors clashing or becoming too loud. We love how these cozy items can brighten up the look of a home while providing functionality to a space.

Accessorizing is a fantastic way to change up the look of your home. Use a bright yellow tray, a gray statue or colorful books to bring in these trendy colors.

You could even use pillar candles or new dishes for a functional way to bring in these colors if accessories aren’t your thing. We love how easy it is to change colors and the feel of a room when you use accessories to achieve the look you want.

For a more impactful change try switching out your bedding and lamps for 2021.

You can use the gray tones for that neutral look or use the Illuminating yellow if you feel a pop of color is what your home needs. Lamps, duvet covers, towels and other items that are used regularly should be changed once in a while.

Feel where your home needs a change most and don’t be afraid to actually make the change. A bold move like this pays off and becomes a statement of your home.

Of course, if you are in love with this yellow and gray trend the boldest move you can make would be to change up your paint color, flooring, and appliances.

Gray and yellow have been statement colors often used together for years; it’s undeniable that these colors go exceedingly well together. If you love it, then why not go for it. Paint your kitchen or bathroom cabinets gray and use yellow accessories to complete the look. Or if you really want to make a statement a yellow couch or even a bright new oven would leave people talking about your interior decorating skills for years.

I love these Pantone colors for 2021, whichever direction you decide to go with them they are sure to make a statement. Whether you only want to change your home a little to update it for the new year, or you want to take this inspiration and run with it to completely redesign your home, I encourage you to make the change. As a designer I think it’s so important to make sure you love what’s in your home, and it’s important to change things up sometimes. So take the inspiration and run with it, with great colors like these, you really can’t go wrong!
