In the wake of the cold weather and snowy conditions, most emergency shelters in Seattle are extending their services to Thursday, January 16.
Last night, nearly 350 individuals sought refuge in the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, City Hall, and the King County Administration Building emergency shelters. In a news conference Tuesday night, it was revealed that although the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall and City Hall shelter have hit capacity, no one will be turned away from the emergency shelters.
“No one was nor will be today turned away,” said Jason Johnson, from the city’s Human Services Department. “This emergency shelter is low-barrier. All are welcome, and we really want people to take full advantage of this additional shelter resource.”
