Tuesday marks the day George Floyd will be laid to rest in his hometown of Houston, Texas.
In just over two weeks since his death at the hands of a group of Minneapolis police, protests and demonstrations in Floyd’s name and others have sparked a global conversation.
Since the protests began in Portland, Mayor Ted Wheeler and Portland Public School’s superintendent have pulled police officers from schools, and in a surprise move Monday, the recently appointed chief of police stepped down to make way for black leadership within law enforcement.
Portland protesters continue to stand in solidarity each day, and Monday’s demonstrators took to the i-84 highway, shutting down traffic.
