Six new deaths, and 70 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Oregon

On Thursday, the Oregon Health Authority confirmed 70 new known cases of COVID-19, and six new fatalities.

At the time of writing, the number of known cases in Oregon sits at 2,989, with 121 fatalities.

According to Oregon Health Authority, the new cases reported on Friday are in the following counties: Benton (four), Clackamas (six), Clatsop (one), Coos (one), Deschutes (two), Jefferson (four), Marion (21), Morrow (one), Multnomah (16), Polk (three), Washington (11), Yamhill (three).

“Oregon’s 121st COVID-19 death is a 69-year-old woman in Polk County, who tested positive on May 2 and died on May 5 at her residence. She had underlying medical conditions,” reads the OHA report.

“With the recent news that federal authorities recommend wearing masks in public, Oregon Health Authority is reminding Oregonians that staying home and avoiding all non-essential contact with others continues to be the most important thing all of us can do to stay healthy and keep others healthy,” writes the OHA.

After an executive order was passed down by Governor Kate Brown, the state has barred all non-essential trips from home.
