The company recently disclosed plans to expand on its already-existing assortment of travel experiences by developing a “premium oceanfront geothermal lagoon.”
Situated in Kársnes Harbour, Kópavogur, a few minutes away from the city center of Reykjavik, the area, called “Sky Lagoon,” will feature breathtaking panoramic ocean views. They will be made even more special by the magical sights of spectacular sunsets, the captivating Northern Lights, and the expansive night sky.
The lagoon’s design draws from the awe-inspiring scenery of Iceland, which lent an influence on the creation of this “oasis within a city,” a press release explains.
It will feature an unobstructed 300-foot infinity-edge that will make it appear as though the ocean and the sky are one while also including design elements influenced by the country’s rich culture to provide guests with a magical experience rooted in Icelandic tradition.
These factors will provide visitors with a rejuvenating “spa-like” activity that is authentically unique to the region. Sky Lagoon will also possess a cold pool and sauna to further contribute to it being a “multi-sensory oasis.”
Other amenities will be added, including an in-lagoon bar, dining options, and other retail offers.
“Sky Lagoon is about that Icelandic feeling of warmth and wonder,” the official website explains. “Join us for rejuvenation and inspiration at the edge of the world.”
The lagoon, as well as the surrounding facilities, is still under construction and is anticipated to open next spring.
