The annual Winter Wonderland experience is part of how we celebrate the holiday spirit in Portland.

The 27th annual Safeway Winter Wonderland is back, and it’s brighter and bigger than ever.

The Safeway Winter Wonderland event, considered to be the “largest holiday light show west of the Mississippi,” will set Portland International Raceway ablaze with festivities and dazzling lights from November 29 onwards, until January 4.

On December 2 and 3, you can enjoy the entire raceway on foot with your furry friends. While you don’t need to absolutely bring a dog to enjoy the event, or have access to it, it’s the one time in the year where you can enjoy the dazzling beauty at Winter Wonderland with your pets.

While dogs need to be on a leash at all times, you can dress up your cute furry friend in their finest holiday costume and take part in the pet holiday costume contest that takes place at 7 pm.

If you’re feeling hungry, there will be several local food carts as well as a Starbucks mobile coffee truck.

The best part about this event is that cash donations will be used to support the portland Police Sunshine division. Or, you can bring in dog food or cat food/litter which will be donated to Winter Wonderland’s non-profit partners.

First premiering in 1993, Winter Wonderland has since gone to become a Portland holiday tradition, and you can’t really say you celebrated the holidays if you haven’t visited the light event with your friends and family.
