7 of Portland's best sandwich spots that you should probably try

Jan 8 2020, 12:05 pm

Who would have thought sticking something between two slices of bread would make for one of the most comforting and soul-satisfying meals that man ever created — the glorious sandwich.

Whether it’s a quick peanut butter and jelly sandwich on the go, or maybe something more elaborate with fancy cheese and juicy cuttings of meat, the sandwich can be as humble or as extravagant as time permits.

On those days when you’re hankering for a sandwich jam-packed with trimmings of all kinds, check out these seven sandwich spots below to put an end to those cravings.

Tails & Trotters

Tails and Trotters serve up an amazing array of sandwiches, but one takes the cake in our humble opinion. Their Porchetta hot sandwich features hazelnut fed marinated boneless belly-loin roast with T&T sausage, grilled, and served on a toasted Fleur De Lis ciabatta roll with garlic aioli, salsa verde, and arugula.

We recommend you trot over to this amazing sandwich spot and try this incredible sandwich.

Sub Factory

This cute little sub spot not only offers no-nonsense, and straight-up scrumptious sandwiches, but also offers bento boxes and breakfast items like sausage biscuit sandwiches.

We recommend their turkey, cream cheese, and cranberry sub, and BBQ meatball sub sandwiches — they’re the bombdotcom.

Sandwich purists might scoff at the very idea of vegan or vegetarian sandwiches, but Break Bread’s ‘I try to be vegetarian’ sandwich will make you no longer have to “try” to appreciate vegetables.

Filled with artichoke hearts, roasted mushrooms, jack cheese, tomato, iceberg lettuce, pesto aioli, and dijon sauce, this is one of the most delicious things you’ll put in your mouth.

Sammich PDX offers up some delightful creations. Our favorite is their cubbie cubano, a mouthwatering combination of seared black forest ham, house smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, mustard, and giardiniera on grilled sourdough bread. Heavenly!

The Bakers Mark made all their bread from scratch daily, and it shows in the quality of their sub sandwiches.

The godfather of all their sandwiches is, quite literally, their Godfather Sandwich, with Genoa salami, prosciutto, capocollo, ham, mortadella, provolone cheese with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickle, Italian dressing, and pepper salad.
