In the first 2019 NBA Finals game in Oakland, the Toronto Raptors dominated the Golden State Warriors on their home turf.
In fact, the banged-up Warriors were no match for the Raps, who won with a comfortable 14-point margin of victory to take Game 3, 123-109.
But before the game took place, the Raptors tweeted about being in California… just not technically on the right path to the Warriors home court in Oakland.
“Crossed the bridge. Ready for battle,” they said, with an accompanying photo that would soon take the internet by storm (slow news day in the US apparently).
The tweet, which still sits proudly in internet history, showed the Raps in cartoon drawings on the Golden Gate Bridge.

There was just one problem.
The Raps would be playing in Oracle Arena, in Oakland, and you wouldn’t take the Golden Gate Bridge to get there.
And of course, the internet decided to troll the Canadian team, who played their first ever NBA Finals game in the US last night.

But after four quarters were playedg, it was the Raptors that got the last laugh.
Clapping back at the geography snobs, the Raps’s tweet after the game was perfect.
“Taking whatever bridge we want back to SF up 2-1.”

And we’re sure they did.
The Raptors are back in action on Friday to look for that 3-1 lead in Oakland. Game 4 tips off at 9 pm ET / 6 PT.
